The best way to upgrade Drupal 8 to 9, or indeed, Drupal 9 to 10 when Drupal 10 is officially launched, is to use composer commands at the command line. Below I will show you how easy this is to accomplish.

As Drupal 8 is now end of life, to ensure you keep up to date with Drupal you now need to upgrade or install Drupal 9. If you are running a slightly older server and your server is running MariaDB 10.0, 10.1 or 10.2 Drupal will not install or if you upgrade you are left with a warning message in Drupal status report telling you that the database version is incompatible with Drupal 9. Well if you have updated you will find quickly that Drupal 9 runs perfectly well on MariaDB 10.0, 10.1 and 10.2.

My development site is to develop and test a flexible system that electricians can use on their own website to create any number or types of cost calculators. For example, a fuse board upgrade cost calculator, a rewire calculator and so on.

When using the Plesk PHP Composer module, installing or updating dependencies sometimes throws a PHP memory limit error. This is due to Plesk not assigning enough memory to run the updates. To ensure that Plesk PHP Composer works, when in the composer screen, click on the "specify" button in the "Environment variables" section. Here you can set the composer memory limit. I would recommend setting it to unlimited by using the following variable:
